Blog for VE-Painting to the music entitled ‘Dancing Around the Sun’

One visual exploration class, we discussed a painter named Kandinsky who painted to music. Then we listened to a piece of music entitled ‘Dancing Around the Sun.’ We then listened to the piece again, this time interpreting the sound into line. In time, most of the paintings looked close-ish to the one below.

This, on the left, is one of Kandinsky’s many masterpieces. Also, for example, it did not matter what he saw in his mind, just what kind of line the sound sounded like. After we had practically finished most of our paintings, we watched the movie where people dance to the music instead of making art in the same way as we did ( I say this because dancing is certainly an art). The music reminded me of first whales, then wolves then LOTS of running, sometimes from the wolves but mostly not. The running people joined up and ran together until they reached the very center of The Great Dark Woods and were looking around with a bit of fear but mostly wonder and awe at the purply blue woods. This project was a cool and awesome one and if I had the chance, I would definitely do it again.

The man in the picture is Kandinsky.
